Academic Requirements
All participants in the Oxford Summer Programme are required to attend the full Lecture Series: Christianity & Culture and the field trips.
Undergraduate Students
Credit Requirements :
- Attendance at both a Topical and a Field/Discipline Seminar
- A 2,500 word essay for both the Topical Seminar and the Field/Discipline Seminar
- A 1,500 word essay or book review for both the Topical Seminar and the Field/Discipline Seminar
- A seminar presentation in each seminar
Graduate Students
We offer a graduate track in each of the Topical Seminars for those in seminary, master’s programmes and Ph.D programmes. These seminars are designed for a deeper and more complex investigation into the topic and will benefit from more focused use of Bodleian materials.
All Field/Discipline Seminars will include a mix of undergraduates, graduates and non-traditional students with accelerated academic requirements for graduates. We have found that the learning environment is heightened for all participants with such a diverse mix.

- A 5,000 word essay for both the Topical Seminar the Field/Discipline Seminar
- A 2,000 word essay or book review for both the Topical Seminar the Field/Discipline Seminar
- A seminar presentation in each seminar
For graduates only: A limited number of tutorials may be arranged in connection with your topical seminar.
Sabbatical or Non-traditional Students
If you wish to attend the OSP for continuing education, Open University, or simply want to immerse yourself in a rigorous academic environment, we welcome you!
If you fall under this category, you must fulfill the Graduate Requirements for 6 credits.
Audit option—upon approval
If you wish to take a seminar for audit, you may do so only if you are enrolled in one seminar for credit and the tutor and OSP staff have approved this as an option. There are a limited number of audit places.
Again, you may take one seminar for audit only if you take another seminar for credit. There is no discount in fees for audits.
