ACADEMIC PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION:

All students participate in the Lecture Series: The Christian Tradition in the British Isles which includes three course-related field trips to sites such as Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral, Hampton Court Palace, and Bath. All students participate in two different seminars which take place during the first two weeks of the programme. All students participate in a set number of individual tutorials during the second two weeks of the programme.  Tutorials are given on materials related to the students’ seminars and essay topics and are offered by the tutor leading the seminar.

OVERALL ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:

All participants in the Oxford Summer Programme are required to attend the full Lecture Series: The Christian Tradition in the British Isles and all field trips.

Undergraduate Students:

Credit Requirements:

  • Attendance at both seminars
  • A 2,500 word essay for both seminars

Graduate Students:
We offer a graduate track in the seminars for those in seminary, master’s programmes and PhD programmes. These seminars are designed for a deeper and more complex investigation into the topic and will benefit from more focused use of materials in Oxford’s research libraries.  This track provides for weekly, private tutorials in addition to the seminar meetings (which integrates all level of students).

All seminars will include a mix of undergraduates, graduates and non-traditional students with accelerated academic requirements for graduates. We have found that the learning environment is heightened for all participants with such a diverse mix.

Credit Requirements:

  • Attendance at both seminars
  • A 5,000 word essay for both seminars

For graduates only: A limited number of tutorials may be arranged in connection with your seminar.

Sabbatical or Non-traditional Students:
If you wish to attend the OSP for continuing education or simply want to immerse yourself in a rigorous academic environment, we welcome you!

If you fall under this category, you must fulfill the Graduate Requirements for 6 credits.
